This is the story of the inventions and business relationships that led to the successful lever action Winchester Rifle. It was a dynamic process of inventive collaboration and financial and business relationships during the mid-1800s.

This 8 page, 12" x 34" double gatefold brochure contains all of the information presented in the display shown at major antique Gun Shows. The original firearms in the display are pictured, as well as the complete timeline from the mid-1840s to the mid-1870s. Shown are the principal inventors and businessmen, starting with Walter Hunt, Lewis Jennings, Horace Smith, Daniel Wesson, B. Tyler Henry, Nelson King and Oliver Winchester. Included in the timeline is specific information on the numerous patents, companies, firearms manufactured and the estimated numbers of each firearm produced. The development process is related to the historical events occurring, which in large part drove the success or failure of these firearms. This information is compiled from an extensive Sources bibliography, which is also listed.
